Reseda sits in the west-central San Fernando Valley, and most of its crashes happen on ordinary streets, not on a freeway. Reseda Boulevard runs north to south through the middle of it. Victory Boulevard, Vanowen Street, Roscoe Boulevard, Saticoy Street and Strathern Street cross it. If you were hurt on one of those streets, you are probably looking for a Reseda personal injury attorney who knows who writes the report, where the case is heard and which clock is running. Here is what you need to know. Moe takes cases only for people physically injured, or families who lost someone, in car, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, rideshare, bus and hit-and-run crashes. He does not take property-damage-only claims, workplace injuries, dog bites or slip-and-falls. Call (323) 716-1992 any hour for a free review.

How we help injured people in Reseda

We handle every motor-vehicle injury case type for Reseda residents, dealing with the insurers directly while you focus on recovery.

Reseda Boulevard and the streets that cross it

Wikipedia gives Reseda's edges as Roscoe Boulevard on the north, White Oak Avenue on the east, Victory Boulevard on the south and Corbin Avenue on the west. Inside that box, Reseda Boulevard does most of the work. It is the main north-south street, and Wikipedia says it is a targeted Vision Zero corridor and part of the city's Great Streets Initiative, with protected bike lanes. Vanowen Street, Saticoy Street and Strathern Street cut across it east to west. Because those protected bike lanes run along the curb, a driver turning off Reseda Boulevard has to check the bike lane as well as oncoming cars. These are the crashes people get hurt in on streets like these. A driver turns left on a green and misjudges your speed. A car pulls out of a shopping center lot into the lane you are in. A rear-end hit happens at a red light on Reseda Boulevard because traffic stopped faster than the car behind it. The US-101 runs south of the neighborhood and the I-405 runs east of it, so many Reseda drivers also use a freeway for part of their trip. Whatever the road, your first job is the same. Get medical care, then lock down the facts while they still exist.

Two Reseda hit-and-run crashes show how fast a driver can vanish

CBS Los Angeles has reported two recent hit-and-run crashes in Reseda, both from LAPD news releases. On a Thursday morning in May 2026, around 6:25, a dark SUV heading east on Strathern Street hit a man riding an e-scooter in the southbound bike lane on Reseda Boulevard. He was seriously hurt and the driver left. LAPD Valley Traffic Division is investigating, and a reward of up to $25,000 was offered. In August 2025, around 8 at night, a black compact SUV heading west on Victory Boulevard hit and killed a 35-year-old man who had just stepped out of his parked vehicle near Belmar Avenue. That driver did not stop either, and a reward of up to $50,000 was posted. Read these as news reports, not statistics. They still point to a real problem. When the other driver flees, you may have no name, no plate and no insurer to call. California law treats an unidentified hit-and-run vehicle as uninsured, so your own uninsured motorist coverage often becomes the source of payment. It comes with strict steps, including a police report within 24 hours. Moe once recovered a $100,000 policy-limit UM settlement for a woman rear-ended by a driver who fled with no police report, after other firms turned her down. Past results do not predict a similar outcome.

People on foot, bikes and scooters in Reseda

Reseda Boulevard's protected bike lanes and Vision Zero label tell you the city expects people on bikes and on foot there. The Strathern Street e-scooter rider, who was in the boulevard's southbound bike lane, and the man killed near Belmar Avenue show what happens when a driver does not watch for them. In California a driver must yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk, or in an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, and must slow down or take other action to keep the pedestrian safe (Vehicle Code 21950). Cyclists have the same rights on the road as drivers (Vehicle Code 21200), and a driver passing a bike must leave at least three feet (Vehicle Code 21760). Insurers still try to shift blame to the person outside the car. They say the pedestrian crossed in the wrong place, or the cyclist was not visible. California follows pure comparative negligence, so partial fault reduces your award by your percentage but does not end your claim. If a city street defect or a broken signal played a part, a different set of rules applies, including the six-month government claim deadline covered below. Moe handles pedestrian and bicycle crashes involving motor vehicles, and an e-scooter or e-bike rider hit by a car is also a motor-vehicle crash case he takes.

Buses, the G Line busway and rideshare rides

Reseda is served by the LA Metro G Line busway, which has a Reseda station at Reseda Boulevard and Oxnard Street just south of the neighborhood's Victory Boulevard line, and by Metro Local line 240 along Reseda Boulevard, per Wikipedia. If you were hurt as a passenger on a Metro bus, common carrier law applies. A carrier that transports people for a fare must use the highest degree of care and diligence the law sets for their safe carriage (Civil Code 2100), and the California Supreme Court has applied that duty to public bus operators. A claim against LA Metro or another public transit agency must first be presented in writing within six months (Government Code 911.2). We did not confirm Metro's own filing address for this page, so ask us before you send anything. Rideshare crashes run on different rules. If an Uber or Lyft driver has accepted a ride and is on the trip, state law requires $1,000,000 in liability coverage (Public Utilities Code 5433). With the app on but no ride accepted, the required liability floor is lower, at $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident. Since January 1, 2026, the rideshare company's own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage is $60,000 per person and $300,000 per incident, and applies only with a passenger in the car. Moe reads the app trip record to see which tier you are in.

Who writes your report, and where to ask for it

Crashes on Reseda streets are handled by the LAPD West Valley Community Police Station, 19020 Vanowen Street, Reseda, CA 91335, phone 818-374-7611. That station also covers Encino, Lake Balboa, Mandeville Canyon, Northridge, Tarzana and Warner Center. Its page links to the request form for a traffic collision report, and you can ask for yours there once it is ready. The LAPD Valley Traffic Division, at 7870 Nollan Place in Panorama City, investigates traffic collisions and traffic-related crimes for the whole Valley Bureau, and CBS reported that Valley Traffic detectives were handling both hit-and-runs above. Two other deadlines sit next to the report. A driver involved in a crash with injury, death, or more than $1,000 in property damage to any one person must file an SR-1 with the DMV within 10 days (Vehicle Code 16000). And if a hit-and-run driver hurt you, you must report it to police within 24 hours to use uninsured motorist coverage. Do not assume the officer on scene wrote down everything. Check your copy for the right street, the right direction of travel, and any witness names. Moe's office can request the report with you and flag mistakes early.

Northridge Hospital, the Van Nuys courthouse and where your case goes

Northridge Hospital Medical Center sits at 18300 Roscoe Boulevard, the street that forms Reseda's northern edge, and its emergency room is open 24 hours a day. Its mailing address says Northridge. Whatever hospital treats you, keep every record, because the first ER note often shapes how an insurer reads your injuries. A lawsuit from a Reseda crash is generally filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. The LA County locator lists General Civil, Limited Civil and Small Claims phone lines at the Van Nuys Courthouse East, 6230 Sylmar Avenue, Van Nuys, CA 91401, in the Northwest District, but which courthouse takes a given injury case depends on venue and the amount at stake. Moe confirms that for you instead of guessing. Many claims settle without a trial. Either way, the claim rests on the record: medical records in order, the scene documented and your out-of-pocket losses tracked from day one.

Deadlines, City of Los Angeles claims and how Moe works your case

Most injury lawsuits against a private driver must be filed within two years of the crash (Code of Civil Procedure 335.1). If a public entity is responsible, such as a city vehicle or a defect in a city street, you generally must present a written claim within six months (Government Code 911.2), and then sue within six months of a written rejection (Government Code 945.6). For the City of Los Angeles, claims go to the City Clerk Claims Department at 200 N. Spring Street, Room 395, or through the online portal at claims.lacity.org. No other office can take it. The City Clerk help line, 213-978-1133, can help with the online form, but claims cannot be filed by phone. California's minimum liability limits are $30,000 per person and $60,000 per crash on policies issued or renewed since January 1, 2025 (Vehicle Code 16056), and a driver carrying only the minimum may not cover a serious injury. Uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage on your own policy often fills the gap. Moe handles your case personally, keeps you updated by call and text, and charges no fee unless he wins. Reviews are free, around the clock, and Se Habla Español. One result: a $75,000 total after the at-fault insurer offered $900. Past results do not predict a similar outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Moe Abdallah Law, P.C. works on contingency. You pay no fee unless Moe wins your case, and the first consultation is free. That applies to injuries from car, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, rideshare, bus and hit-and-run crashes in Reseda. Call (323) 716-1992 any time of day or night.

Start with the LAPD West Valley Community Police Station at 19020 Vanowen Street, Reseda, phone 818-374-7611. Its page links to the traffic collision report request. Serious crashes and hit-and-runs may be handled by LAPD Valley Traffic Division in Panorama City. Moe's office can help you request it and check it for errors.

Injury suits are filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. The Van Nuys Courthouse East on Sylmar Avenue is in the court's Northwest District. The exact courthouse depends on venue and the amount claimed, so Moe confirms it before filing. Most cases settle without a trial.

Two years from the crash for a lawsuit against a private driver (Code of Civil Procedure 335.1). If a city or other public entity may be at fault, you must present a written claim within six months (Government Code 911.2). Missing either deadline can end your case, so call early.

Report the crash to LAPD within 24 hours and call a lawyer. California treats an unidentified hit-and-run vehicle as uninsured, so your own uninsured motorist coverage may pay for your injuries if you meet the steps in Insurance Code 11580.2, including a sworn statement to your insurer within 30 days of the report.

It depends on the app's status. During an accepted trip, the rideshare company must carry $1,000,000 in liability coverage. While the driver is logged on and waiting, the floor is $50,000 per person and $100,000 per incident. With the app off, the driver's own policy applies. Moe checks the trip record to find the right tier.

Yes. California follows pure comparative negligence, so your award is reduced by your percentage of fault but not barred (Li v. Yellow Cab Co. (1975) 13 Cal.3d 804). Insurers often overstate your share, so do not accept a fault split from an adjuster without talking to a lawyer.

No. Moe takes cases only for people physically injured, or families of people killed, in motor-vehicle crashes. He does not take property-damage-only claims, workplace injuries, product cases, dog bites, slip-and-falls or medical malpractice. If your injury came from a crash, call for a free review.
