West Hollywood packs 35,757 people into 1.89 square miles, and nearly all of them use the same few streets every day. Santa Monica Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, Fountain Avenue, Melrose Avenue and La Brea Avenue carry buses, shuttles, delivery vans, rideshare cars and a lot of people on foot. If you are looking for a West Hollywood personal injury attorney after a crash, this page shows how the city's roads, Sheriff's station, hospital, court and claim rules shape your case. Moe Abdallah Law, P.C. is based in downtown Los Angeles and handles motor-vehicle injury cases only. Attorney Moe Abdallah personally takes your calls, Se Habla Español, and the consultation is free. The firm works on contingency, so you owe nothing unless Moe wins your case.

We handle every motor-vehicle injury case type for West Hollywood residents, dealing with the insurers directly while you focus on recovery.

What 991 collisions in one small city tell you

The Sheriff's annual report, presented to the West Hollywood City Council on February 17, 2026, counted 991 traffic collisions in the city in 2025. That is up 30% from 762 in 2024. Four of those crashes were fatal, compared with two the year before. The report also logged 82 pedestrian strikes, up from 54, and 211 hit-and-runs. DUI-related crashes rose 76%. Here is why those numbers matter to you. When crashes are this common, adjusters treat a West Hollywood claim as routine. They offer fast, low money and hope you take it before you know what your injuries will cost. A personal injury lawyer in West Hollywood changes that math. Your lawyer documents the crash, collects your medical records, and puts a real value on your claim before anyone talks about an offer. The city's own Vision Zero plan covers 2017 through 2021 and counts 3,140 reported collisions in those five years. Of those, 78 caused severe injuries and 4 were fatal. You are not the first person hurt on these streets. That paper trail of earlier crashes can matter when a road's design is part of the problem.

Traffic at a busy intersection in West Hollywood

Santa Monica Boulevard, Sunset, Fountain and the streets that fill the reports

No freeway runs through West Hollywood, so every crash here happens on a city street. The City's Vision Zero page says its fatal and severe-injury crashes tend to fall on its fastest streets, and it names seven corridors posted at 35 mph, the highest limit in the city: Santa Monica Boulevard west of Holloway Dr., Sunset Boulevard, Melrose Avenue, Crescent Heights Boulevard, Fairfax Avenue, La Brea Avenue and Fountain Avenue. It also lists 11 priority intersections, including Santa Monica at La Brea, Crescent Heights, La Cienega and Robertson, plus Sunset and Sherbourne and La Cienega and Rosewood. The Sheriff's numbers agree. Santa Monica Boulevard had 251 collisions and 90 injuries in 2025, and its busiest intersection was Santa Monica and La Brea with 11 collisions. Fountain Avenue had 109 collisions and 51 injuries. The Vision Zero data also shows that 93% of killed and seriously injured crashes happened at intersections. So that is where the evidence lives. Signal timing, turn lanes, bus stops and parked delivery trucks that block sightlines all show up at those intersections. Moe studies the exact corner where you were hit, not just the city as a whole.

On foot in WeHo: pedestrian strikes, hit-and-runs and drunk drivers

Pedestrians made up 40% of killed and seriously injured crashes in the Vision Zero study period, and the Sheriff's 2025 count of 82 pedestrian strikes shows the problem has not let up. West Hollywood is built for walking. People cross Santa Monica Boulevard between bars, restaurants and apartment buildings at all hours, often late at night. Under Vehicle Code section 21950, a driver must yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk or an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, and must slow down or take other action to keep that person safe. Insurers still try to blame the walker. California uses pure comparative negligence under Li v. Yellow Cab Co., so you can recover even if a jury puts some fault on you, but your award shrinks by your share. The 211 hit-and-runs reported in 2025 raise a second problem. If the driver is never found, California treats that car as uninsured, and your own uninsured motorist coverage can pay for your injuries if you report the crash within 24 hours and file a sworn statement with your insurer within 30 days. A drunk driver changes the case again. Punitive damages can apply when someone chooses to get behind the wheel drunk.

Injured client meeting with an attorney in West Hollywood

Getting your report from the Sheriff's West Hollywood Station

West Hollywood contracts with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for law enforcement, so a deputy from the West Hollywood Station usually writes your collision report. The station is at 780 N. San Vicente Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069, and the phone number is (310) 855-8850. The station's webpage does not explain how to request a collision report, so call and ask the front desk how to get yours and what ID or report number they need. Write down the deputy's name and the report number at the scene if you can. If you were hurt or the damage looks over $1,000, the law also requires a report to the DMV on form SR-1 within 10 days. You, your insurance agent or broker, or your attorney can file it. The SR-1 is separate from the Sheriff's report, and the deputy does not file it for you. Do not give a recorded statement to the other driver's insurer before you have talked with a lawyer. Moe can request the report, file the SR-1 if you want help, and take the adjuster's calls so you can focus on treatment.

Cedars-Sinai, your medical record and the other driver's fault arguments

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center sits at 8700 Beverly Blvd., just outside the city line, and it is a Level I trauma center. Cedars-Sinai says it first earned that designation for adult trauma care in 1984. It sits at the west end of the Cityline Local shuttle route. Wherever you are treated, your records may start at an emergency room and then move to a family doctor, an orthopedist or a physical therapist. Gaps in treatment hurt claims. Wait three weeks to see someone after a crash, and the insurer will argue that your neck pain came from something else. Keep every discharge paper, bill and appointment card. Tell each provider that the crash caused your injuries. On the insurance side, California's minimum auto liability limits are $30,000 per person, $60,000 per accident and $15,000 for property damage on policies issued or renewed since January 1, 2025. Those limits vanish fast with a broken bone or a surgery. If the at-fault driver has little or no coverage, your own uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage may fill the gap. Moe's past results include $100,000 from a policy-limit UM recovery and $75,000 after the at-fault insurer first offered $900. Every case is different, and past results do not promise a similar outcome.

Cityline shuttles, Metro buses and rideshare cars on Santa Monica Boulevard

Santa Monica Boulevard is a transit street. The city runs the Cityline Local shuttle, which mostly follows Santa Monica Boulevard between Cedars-Sinai and La Brea Avenue on Monday through Saturday. The Cityline Commuter shuttle runs along Santa Monica Boulevard from the West Hollywood Library to the Hollywood and Highland Metro station. The WeHo PickUp weekend trolley covers Santa Monica Boulevard between Robertson and La Brea. LA Metro also runs bus service in the city. If one of those vehicles hurts you, the claim may run against a public entity, and that triggers a six-month deadline described below. Rideshare is the other big presence in a nightlife city. If an Uber or Lyft driver hits you or crashes with you in the back seat, state law requires at least $1 million in coverage that pays first, from the moment the driver accepts a ride until the ride ends. Since January 1, 2026, rideshare companies must also carry $60,000 per person and $300,000 per incident in uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, which applies while a passenger is in the car. Screenshots of the trip, the driver's name and the time stamps matter, so save them right away.

Deadlines, city claims and where a West Hollywood case is heard

Most California injury lawsuits must be filed within two years of the crash under Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1. Property damage has three years. If a public entity is responsible, such as a Cityline shuttle, a Metro bus or a dangerous road condition, you must present a written claim within six months under Government Code section 911.2. If the entity rejects it in writing, you have six months from that notice to sue under section 945.6. For the City of West Hollywood, call the city directly to confirm its current claim procedure. For claims against the County of Los Angeles, the Board of Supervisors accepts claims at 500 W. Temple St., Room 383, Los Angeles, CA 90012, and its customer service line for claim questions is (213) 974-1440. As for court, the County's services locator says the Beverly Hills Courthouse at 9355 Burton Way hears cases arising in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. We cannot confirm which courthouse takes a particular West Hollywood injury lawsuit, and Moe checks that when your case is ready to file. Call (323) 716-1992 any hour. The LA County Sheriff's West Hollywood Station, at 780 N. San Vicente Blvd., handles law enforcement for the city. Call (310) 855-8850 and ask how to request your collision report. The station's page does not explain the process, so have your report number, date and location ready. Moe's office can also request it for you.

The Sheriff's 2025 report counted 251 collisions on Santa Monica Boulevard and 109 on Fountain Avenue. The city's Vision Zero page also names Sunset, Melrose, Crescent Heights, Fairfax and La Brea among its 35 mph corridors, where serious crashes tend to cluster. Santa Monica and La Brea had the most collisions of any single intersection, with 11 in 2025.

Sometimes. Claims against a public entity need a written claim within six months of the injury under Government Code section 911.2, and a dangerous-condition claim must meet the elements in section 835. Call the city to confirm its claim process. Moe can review the facts and tell you whether a public claim fits.

State law requires at least $1 million in coverage from the time the driver accepts your ride until it ends. Passengers also have $60,000 per person and $300,000 per incident in uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage under a rule that took effect on January 1, 2026. Save the trip receipt and driver details, and do not give a recorded statement before you call a lawyer.

You generally have two years to sue under Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1. If a public entity is involved, you must present a written claim within six months, and you then have six months after a written rejection to file suit. Hit-and-run uninsured motorist claims also have a 24-hour report rule and a 30-day sworn statement rule.

Report the crash to law enforcement within 24 hours, and write down anything you remember about the car. If the driver is never found, your own uninsured motorist coverage can pay for your injuries when there was physical contact. You must also file a sworn statement with your insurer within 30 days. Moe handles these claims and has recovered a $100,000 policy-limit UM settlement. Every case is different, and past results do not promise a similar outcome.

The LA County services locator says the Beverly Hills Courthouse, 9355 Burton Way, handles cases arising in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. We could not confirm which courthouse takes a West Hollywood personal injury lawsuit, so Moe verifies the right filing location when your case is ready to file.
