Venice Personal Injury Lawyer
Moe Abdallah Law, P.C. is a Venice personal injury lawyer for people hurt in car, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, and rideshare crashes. Attorney Moe Abdallah deals with the insurers himself. We take crash injury cases only. The case review is free, and you pay no fee unless he wins.
Venice is a beach neighborhood of the City of Los Angeles, and its crashes happen on a tight grid of Lincoln Blvd, Venice Blvd, Washington Blvd, Abbot Kinney, and Main St. If you were hurt in a crash here, you need a Venice personal injury lawyer who knows which agency writes your report and which hospital will have your records. Moe Abdallah Law, P.C. takes cases only for people physically injured, or families who lost someone, in motor vehicle crashes. We do not handle slip-and-falls, dog bites, or workplace injuries. Attorney Moe Abdallah, State Bar No. 348886, answers the phone himself at (323) 716-1992, any hour, and Se Habla Español. Your first call costs nothing. We get paid only if your case wins. Here is how a Venice crash case works, from the streets and the police to the hospitals, the courts, and the deadlines that can end a claim.
How we help injured people in Venice
We handle every motor-vehicle injury case type for Venice residents, dealing with the insurers directly while you focus on recovery.
Where Venice crashes happen and what the city's own numbers show
Venice has no freeway of its own. The I-10 runs north of the neighborhood, and the CA-90 Marina Freeway ends at Lincoln Blvd, so fast traffic dumps onto surface streets right at the edge of Venice. Lincoln Blvd and Venice Blvd carry most of the regional traffic. Washington Blvd, Abbot Kinney Blvd, Main St, Rose Ave, and Pacific Ave cut through the blocks where people park, walk, and bike. The city has counted part of the damage. LADOT says Venice Blvd sits on the City's High Injury Network, the 6 percent of streets that account for over 70 percent of severe and fatal injury collisions. From 2012 to 2022 there were 1,203 collisions on the section of Venice Blvd west of Inglewood Blvd. A quarter of them involved people walking or biking, and 58 people were killed or severely injured. LADOT and Metro finished safety work from Inglewood Blvd to National Blvd, which sits mostly east of the Venice neighborhood, so do not assume the western blocks got the same fixes. Tell us the exact cross streets of your crash. Road design, signal timing, and a known hazard can all decide who pays.

Police reports from LAPD Pacific Division
Venice is patrolled by LAPD Pacific Division. The Pacific Community Police Station sits at 12312 Culver Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90066, and its number is 310-482-6334. LAPD's station page lists Venice and Oakwood among the communities Pacific serves and sends traffic investigations to West Traffic Division. You will not get your traffic collision report the same day. LAPD tells people to wait at least 45 days after the crash, then request the report online through LexisNexis. Reports that involve an arrest, a death, or a juvenile, and any report from before February 1, 2016, must be requested by mail. For those, you mail a $19 check or money order to LAPD Records and Identification Division, Document Processing Unit, P.O. Box 30158, Los Angeles, CA 90030. The records status line is (213) 486-8130. Before you leave the scene, write down the officer's name and the report number. California law also requires a driver in a crash with an injury, or more than $1,000 in property damage, to file the DMV's SR-1 form within 10 days. Fill it out carefully, because a wrong detail on the form can come back later in your claim.
Treatment near Venice and the records that prove your injuries
Three emergency departments are close to Venice, and what you tell them in the first hours becomes evidence. Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital at 4650 Lincoln Blvd. in Marina del Rey is a 133-bed acute care hospital with 24/7 emergency care. UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center has an emergency department at 1250 16th St. in Santa Monica. Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center is at 757 Westwood Plaza in Los Angeles. We have not confirmed trauma designations for these hospitals, so ask the hospital directly if that matters for your care. Go to an emergency room or urgent care the same day, even if you feel sore instead of badly hurt. Neck, back, and head injuries often show up a day or two later. Adjusters look for a gap between the crash and your first visit, then argue the injury came from somewhere else. Keep every discharge sheet, imaging report, and bill. If you have no health insurance, say so early. Moe can explain how those bills are handled in a claim.

Getting around Venice: Metro Line 33, Big Blue Bus, and who owns the bus that hit you
Two transit systems matter in Venice. LA Metro Local Line 33 runs on Venice Blvd and continues toward Santa Monica on Main St. The Venice Neighborhood Council also describes Big Blue Bus Route 1 as running between UCLA and Windward Circle in Venice, and Route 18 toward Marina del Rey. That council page is a 2020 draft, so check bigbluebus.com for current routes. Why does the operator matter? Metro is a county transit agency, Big Blue Bus is run by the City of Santa Monica, and LADOT buses belong to the City of Los Angeles, so a crash with any of them can put a public agency in your case. If you were hurt in a crash with a city or county vehicle, or by a dangerous road condition, you generally must present a written claim to that agency within six months of the injury (Gov. Code 911.2). If the agency rejects your claim in writing, you then have six months from that notice to sue (Gov. Code 945.6). Claims against the City of Los Angeles, such as a road defect or an LADOT bus, go to the Office of the City Clerk. They can be filed through the online Claim for Damages portal, by mail, or in person at 200 N. Spring St., Room 395, City Hall. Email and fax claims are not accepted. A claim against Metro or Santa Monica goes to that agency instead, so identify the bus operator before the six-month window closes.
Walking, biking, and the boardwalk crowd
Ocean Front Walk is pedestrian space, but the streets that feed it are not. The LADOT figures above show a quarter of the Venice Blvd collisions involved someone walking or biking. A recent case shows the stakes on the surface streets. On September 20, 2025, around 2 a.m., a hit-and-run driver in a blue SUV struck and killed a 23-year-old man crossing near Washington Blvd and Lincoln Blvd, according to CBS Los Angeles citing LAPD. The driver fled east on Washington Blvd. California law says a driver must yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk, or in an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, and must use due care even outside a crosswalk (Vehicle Code 21950, 21954). Pedestrians and cyclists also owe due care, and insurers use that to blame you. California's pure comparative negligence rule still lets you recover if you were partly at fault, with your award reduced by your share (Li v. Yellow Cab Co.). Bike lane photos, shop cameras on Abbot Kinney and Main St, and doorbell video can vanish within days, so we move fast.
Hit-and-run, uninsured drivers, rideshare, and drunk-driving crashes
Some Venice crashes start with a driver who leaves, has no insurance, or has been drinking. If a driver flees, your own uninsured motorist (UM) coverage can pay for your injuries, but only if three conditions are met. The injury must come from physical contact with the other vehicle. You must report the crash to police within 24 hours. And you must file a sworn statement with your insurer within 30 days after that report (Ins. Code 11580.2). Miss one step and you can lose the coverage. Moe once recovered a $100,000 policy-limit UM settlement for a woman rear-ended by a driver who fled with no police report, after other firms turned her down. Past results do not predict a similar outcome. California's minimum liability limits are $30,000 per person and $60,000 per accident, which is often too little for a serious injury. For Uber and Lyft, the amount of coverage depends on what the app was doing. From the moment a ride is accepted until it ends, $1,000,000 in rideshare liability coverage applies. For passengers, rideshare UM/UIM coverage has been $60,000 per person and $300,000 per incident since January 1, 2026, from the time you get in the car until you get out. If a drunk driver hit you, punitive damages may be possible on top of your medical bills and lost pay.
Courts, deadlines, and how Moe handles a Venice case
The nearest courthouse is the Santa Monica Courthouse of LA Superior Court, West District, at 1725 Main St., Santa Monica, CA 90401. Where a case must be filed depends on the case type and amount, and the court's Filing Court Locator confirms it. Claims of $25,000 or less are limited civil, and larger ones are unlimited civil. The deadline to sue a private driver is two years from the crash (Code Civ. Proc. 335.1), and the deadline for damage to your vehicle is three years. Public entity claims have the six-month rule described above. Moe works on a contingency fee, so you pay nothing unless he wins. He handles your case personally and keeps you updated by call and text. His results include $105,000 for an uninsured client with a broken sternum and $75,000 after an insurer offered $900. Past results do not predict a similar outcome. Call (323) 716-1992 or send a message, and he will tell you what your Venice claim looks like.
Frequently Asked Questions
LAPD Pacific Division patrols Venice, and its station page sends traffic investigations to West Traffic Division. The Pacific Community Police Station is at 12312 Culver Blvd. and answers at 310-482-6334. Get the report number at the scene, because the written report takes at least 45 days to become available. Moe can also help you request it later.
Wait at least 45 days, then request it online through LexisNexis, as LAPD directs. Reports involving an arrest, a death, a juvenile, or dated before February 1, 2016 must be requested by mail with a $19 check or money order to LAPD Records and Identification Division, P.O. Box 30158, Los Angeles, CA 90030. Keep your report number handy when you file the request.
Go to the closest emergency room, and call 911 if you are badly hurt. Cedars-Sinai Marina Hospital on Lincoln Blvd, UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, and Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center all have emergency departments near Venice. We have not verified their trauma levels, so ask the hospital if that matters. Keep every record from the visit.
Two years from the crash to sue a private driver in most cases (Code Civ. Proc. 335.1). If a public agency such as the City of Los Angeles may be responsible, you generally must present a written claim within six months (Gov. Code 911.2). Do not wait until the last week. Moe can tell you which deadline applies on the first call.
Often yes, through your own uninsured motorist coverage. You must have physical contact with the vehicle, report the crash to police within 24 hours, and file a sworn statement with your insurer within 30 days after that report. Call us fast so you miss none of those steps. Moe will check your policy on the first call.
Not always. Drivers must yield in marked crosswalks and use due care everywhere, but pedestrians owe care too. California's comparative negligence rule means you can still recover if you were partly at fault, though your award is reduced by your share of blame. Photos of the crosswalk, signals, and nearby cameras help show what happened.
No. Moe Abdallah Law, P.C. takes cases only for people physically injured, or families of people killed, in motor vehicle crashes. That includes car, truck, motorcycle, pedestrian, bicycle, rideshare, bus, and hit-and-run crashes. We do not take property-damage-only claims. If your injury came from something else, we can point you toward other help.
Nothing up front. The consultation is free, and the fee is a percentage of what Moe recovers, so you pay no fee unless he wins. He is available 24/7 at (323) 716-1992, and Se Habla Español. If there is no recovery, you owe no attorney fee. Moe explains the fee in plain words before you sign anything.
